What Is a Good Spacebar Speed?

Find out what counts as a good spacebar score for 1, 5, 10, 30 and 60 seconds, with presses-per-second targets you can check against.

What is a good spacebar speed?

For most people, 4 to 7 presses per second on a 10-second test is normal, 8 to 10 is fast, and more than 10 is very fast. Short bursts can go higher than any pace you could hold for a minute, so the right target depends on the test time. These are informal ranges built from commonly reported practice results; they are not measured statistics from this site.

5 seconds354555
10 seconds6080100

Numbers are presses in the whole test. Longer tests use lower paces because staying fast for a minute is harder than for a few seconds.

Total, PPS and consistency: which matters most?

Use the total to compare runs of the same length, PPS to compare different lengths, and consistency to judge control. A 10-second run of 70 presses with 90% consistency is often more useful for practice than a lucky 75 with a spiky chart, because you can repeat it.

Why your score may differ from other people’s

  • Keyboards differ in key travel, switch type and how fast they report a press.
  • Browsers and operating systems add small amounts of input lag.
  • Technique matters: finger, thumb, posture and how well warmed up you are.
  • Some sites count different events, such as keyup, or accept key repeat, which inflates scores.

How to set a personal target

  1. Take the 10-second test three times and note the median.
  2. Pick a goal 5% above it, for example 63 if your median is 60.
  3. Practise a few short sessions a week and re-test after seven days.
  4. Raise the goal only when you hit it three times in a row.

What is the average spacebar speed?

There is no single official average for spacebar speed, and the figures quoted on different sites disagree because they come from different people, keyboards and test times. A practical way to think about it is by pace: a relaxed 4 to 5 presses per second, a comfortable 6, a fast 8 and a very fast 10 or more over about 10 seconds. These are informal practice reference points. Your own chart and your own improvement over weeks matter more than any average.

Spacebar score by age, device and input

People often ask what a good spacebar score is for their age or device. Neither age nor device decides it by itself: technique, practice, the keyboard and whether you use a physical key or a touchscreen all matter, and touchscreen taps and keyboard presses are different inputs. Compare yourself with your own earlier runs on the same setup.

Good spacebar score FAQ

Is 6 presses per second good?

Yes. About 6 PPS is a comfortable pace for most people on a 10-second test. Fast players reach 8 or more.

Is 100 presses in 10 seconds possible?

It is very fast (10 PPS) and uncommon, but practised players with a good keyboard can approach it in short bursts.

How many presses in 60 seconds is good?

Roughly 330 is comfortable, 420 is fast and 510 or more is very fast. Pace matters more than the total.

Why is my 60-second PPS lower than my 10-second PPS?

It is normal. Sustaining a pace for a minute is harder than a short burst, so averages drop with length.

What is the average spacebar CPS?

Spacebar CPS means presses per second. There is no verified official average; a comfortable pace for many people over 10 seconds is around 6 per second, but that is an informal reference rather than a measured statistic.
