How to use the spacebar counter on mobile
  1. Pick a time (or type your own seconds) and tap the large pad. The first tap starts the clock and counts as press number one.
  2. Keep tapping the pad with one or two thumbs until the timer hits zero. Each touch is one press.
  3. Have a Bluetooth or USB keyboard connected? Press its Space key instead – physical key presses are counted exactly like on a computer.
  4. When time is up the result window opens and the pad locks until you press Restart. Turn on Do Not Disturb first so a notification cannot interrupt the run.

When to use a spacebar counter without a timer

Free-count mode is for the times a clock gets in the way. Use it to count repetitions during practice, to check that every press on a new keyboard registers, or to see how many presses you can make before you want to stop. The first press starts a stopwatch that runs up instead of down, and Finish ends the count.

How the free count works

  • Press the spacebar (or tap the pad on a phone) to start counting.
  • The counter shows your total and the seconds elapsed. Holding the key does not add presses.
  • Press Finish to lock the count and open the result window with your average pace and chart.
  • Press Restart to begin again.

Free counts are saved to your history but are not ranked, because they have no fixed time. For a result you can compare and submit, take a timed test such as the 10-second spacebar test or the 30-second spacebar test.

A key press counter for keyboards, tally counts and practice

Without a countdown this page works as a simple keyboard counter or tally counter for the space bar: it counts presses, shows the seconds elapsed and gives an average pace when you press Finish. People use it to count repetitions in finger-strength exercises, to check how many presses a new keyboard registers in a row, to log how many times they can press the space bar before getting tired, and to measure a long unbroken run that does not fit a standard timer.

Count how many times you can press the spacebar

A common challenge is simply: how many times can you press the spacebar without stopping? Start the count, keep a pace you can sustain and press Finish when you want to stop. Because the stopwatch counts up, you can compare runs by presses per second as well as by total. For a score you can submit, take a timed test such as the 30-second spacebar counter.

Spacebar counter without a timer FAQ

Is there a spacebar counter with no time limit?

Yes. This page counts every press until you press Finish, with no countdown.

Why is there no presses-per-second score on a free count?

There is: the average pace is shown from the elapsed time. It is just not ranked, because a free count has no fixed length to compare.

Does the count reset by itself?

No. The count stays locked after Finish until you press Restart.

Is there a spacebar tally counter with no limit?

Yes. This counter has no maximum count and no time limit. It stays locked after Finish until you press Restart.

How many times can you press the spacebar before it breaks?

Keyboard switches are usually rated for millions of presses, so a few thousand presses in a test is nothing for a healthy keyboard. If a key starts missing presses early, it is probably dirty or faulty rather than worn out by this test.
