What this site is
Spacebar Counter is a set of free browser tools for measuring how fast you press a key or click a mouse button. The main tool is the spacebar counter, which supports fourteen timed tests from one second to two minutes, a custom time, and a free-count mode. Alongside it are the CPS test, the double click test, four spacebar games and a set of guides.
Why we built it
Most spacebar counters are a single page with a number and a lot of repeated text. We wanted one that is accurate, shows you what happened second by second, works on phones, explains its own limits, and has a leaderboard where every entry belongs to a real person. The tools are free and are supported by advertising, described in the Cookie Policy.
How the tools measure
Every test timestamps each press or click with the browser’s high-resolution clock, ignores key repeat and rejects anything after the timer ends. Results include total, average per second, fastest and slowest second, a consistency score and a chart. The method is explained in how a spacebar counter works and is a spacebar counter accurate?.
How the leaderboard is run
The Top 500 leaderboard only lists real submissions. We do not add placeholder players or invented scores. Players can join with an email address or Google and choose an avatar. Impossible scores are rejected automatically, unusually fast ones are held for a human check, and each player appears once per list with their best result. Because scores come from a player’s own browser, the list is a community ranking, not an officially verified record. The rules are in the Community Guidelines.
How we write and check content
Every page is original and reviewed under our Editorial Policy. Score targets are labelled as informal practice references, never as measured statistics.
Your data
Your history and personal bests stay in your browser. A score is only sent to us when you choose to add it to the leaderboard, and an account is only created if you join. See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details.
