How the Top 500 ranking works

Each time has its own list, sorted by total presses (or clicks) and then by who got there first. A player appears once per list with their best score, so one person cannot fill the table. Pace per second is calculated from the score and the test time.

How scores are checked

  • The score is checked against a physical limit. Anything above what a human can do in that time is rejected.
  • Scores that are possible but unusually fast are held for a human check before they are shown.
  • Names with links, email addresses or blocked words are refused, and registered players’ names cannot be reused by guests.
  • Rate limits stop one connection flooding the list.

These checks remove obvious cheating and spam, but a score is still submitted by the player’s browser, so the list is a community ranking, not an officially verified record. If you spot an entry that looks wrong, tell us on the contact page.

How to add your score

  1. Open a timed test such as the 10-second spacebar counter or the CPS test.
  2. Use one of the standard times shown on the leaderboard tabs. Custom times are not ranked.
  3. When the test ends, a window opens. Choose Continue with Google or create an account with an email; your result is submitted automatically. Already a player? Log in and tap Add my score to the Top 500.
  4. Your rank is shown right away if the score is published.

Join the Top 500: sign in with Google or email, pick an avatar

To get on the leaderboard under your own name, finish a standard timed test and use the result window: choose Continue with Google or create an account with an email address. Your score is submitted automatically when you join, so you do not have to play it again. On your player account page you can choose a built-in avatar, use your Google picture or upload your own, change your player name and see your personal bests. Guests can still submit with a nickname if the site allows it, but only a player account protects your name and shows your avatar.

The top three podium and the full Top 500 list

Each test time has its own list. The three fastest players are shown on a podium with their avatars, and the full list shows rank, avatar, player name, score, presses or clicks per second and date. Switch between the 1 second to 2 minute tabs to see every list. A player appears once per list with their best score, so every place belongs to a different person.

Fair play on the leaderboard

Spacebar and CPS lists are only worth something if they are fair. Impossible scores are rejected, unusually fast scores are held for a moderator and accounts that cheat are suspended. Read the community guidelines and fair play rules for what is allowed.

Leaderboard FAQ

Why is my score not on the list yet?

Most scores appear immediately. Unusually fast scores are held for a quick human check, so give them a little time.

Can I change my player name or avatar?

Yes. Log in to your player account and change your name or avatar at any time. Your existing scores follow the new name and picture.

Do I need an account?

An account is the best way to appear on the Top 500: it protects your name and shows your avatar. If the site allows guest scores you can also submit with just a nickname, but guest names have no avatar and anyone can reuse them.

Why only one entry per player?

Each list shows a player’s best score once, so every position belongs to a different person.

How do I get my avatar on the leaderboard?

Join with Google or an email address, then choose a built-in avatar, keep your Google picture or upload your own on your account page. Your avatar appears next to your name on the podium and in the list.

Is my score submitted automatically?

When you join or log in from the result window, the result you just played is submitted straight away. After that you can submit with one tap, or turn on automatic submitting on your account page.

Who can see my email address?

Nobody. Only your player name, avatar, score and date are shown on the leaderboard.
