How to use the spacebar counter on mobile
- Pick a time (or type your own seconds) and tap the large pad. The first tap starts the clock and counts as press number one.
- Keep tapping the pad with one or two thumbs until the timer hits zero. Each touch is one press.
- Have a Bluetooth or USB keyboard connected? Press its Space key instead – physical key presses are counted exactly like on a computer.
- When time is up the result window opens and the pad locks until you press Restart. Turn on Do Not Disturb first so a notification cannot interrupt the run.

50-second spacebar test: what it measures
The 50-second spacebar counter is for players who want a serious stamina test but find the full minute too long for repeated practice.
At this length comfort and technique decide the result more than raw speed. The chart reveals whether you can hold a steady pace or whether you are carried by an opening burst.
How to get a better 50-second spacebar score
Start about 10% below your 30-second pace and hold it. Switch fingers or use a thumb if your usual finger tires. Stop if your forearm or hand feels sore, and rest well before another long run.
- Start slightly below your top speed so you still have energy for the last third.
- Change one thing at a time between attempts, such as the finger you use, so you can see what helped.
- Rest properly between long runs and stop if your hand aches.
50-second spacebar score targets
How many times can you press the spacebar in 50 seconds? Staying fast for this long is hard, so the targets below use lower paces than the short tests. They are reference points, not official grades or measured averages.
| Pace | Presses per second | Presses in 50 seconds |
|---|---|---|
| Warm-up | 4 | 200 |
| Comfortable | 5.5 | 275 |
| Fast | 7 | 350 |
| Very fast | 8.5 | 425 |
Your own chart is a better guide than any table. Aim to beat your personal best and to make the line flatter. The good spacebar speed guide explains how to read total, PPS and consistency together.
Reading your 50-second result
With fifty bars, the minimum PPS and consistency score matter most. Compare the first ten seconds with the last ten. If the last ten are less than 80% of the first, endurance is your next target. The 1-minute test is the natural next step.
A long run produces many data points, so the chart and consistency score matter more than the total. The counter locks at the end so nothing changes after the timer stops, and Restart begins a fresh run. Using a phone? The mobile guide explains tapping.

What a 50-second spacebar score means in presses per second
Every spacebar speed test boils down to one formula: presses per second (PPS, sometimes called keys per second or KPS) equals your total presses divided by the test time. On a 50 seconds test that means every extra press adds 0.02 to your average PPS. Use the table to turn a goal into a target total before you start.
| Pace | Presses in 50 seconds | Reading |
|---|---|---|
| 4 presses per second | 200 | Relaxed (informal reference) |
| 5 presses per second | 250 | Steady (informal reference) |
| 6 presses per second | 300 | Comfortable (informal reference) |
| 7 presses per second | 350 | Brisk (informal reference) |
| 8 presses per second | 400 | Fast (informal reference) |
| 9 presses per second | 450 | Very fast (informal reference) |
| 10 presses per second | 500 | Elite pace (informal reference) |
Endurance, comfort and long-session technique
A 50 seconds spacebar test is an endurance test as much as a speed test. Raw tapping speed fades as the forearm tires, so the people who score highest tend to pick a pace they can keep, use short relaxed strokes and keep their wrist neutral rather than hammering the key. Expect your average presses per second to be clearly lower than on a 5- or 10-second test, and judge yourself against your own earlier runs of the same length.
Take a proper rest between attempts, stay hydrated and stop if your hand aches. Long runs are where repetitive strain builds up, which is why our practice guide puts rest and warm-ups first.
Keyboard, switches and input lag on a 50-second test
Your keyboard shapes the result. Membrane, scissor and mechanical switches have different actuation points (how far you press before the key registers) and different travel, and a keyboard’s polling rate decides how often it reports to the computer. None of that is a flaw in the counter: it measures what your browser receives. For fair comparisons, test the same keyboard, same browser and same 50-second setting, and read the accuracy guide for how timer precision and input lag fit in.
50-second spacebar counter FAQ
How many times can you press the spacebar in 50 seconds?
A comfortable pace gives about 275 presses and a fast pace about 350 or more. Your keyboard, technique and warm-up all change the number, so track your own best.
What is a good score on the 50-second spacebar test?
Beating your own personal best with a steady chart is a good score. As a rough target, 275 presses is comfortable and 350 is fast for 50 seconds.
Is the 50-second test too hard on my hand?
It can be if you tense up. Use a relaxed hand, take breaks, and stop if anything hurts. Short sessions are better than one long one.
Is my 50-second score saved?
Your best score and attempts are saved in this browser. To add a score to the Top 500, enter a player name in the result window.
How many presses per second is 300 presses in 50 seconds?
300 presses in 50 seconds is 6.0 presses per second (300 divided by 50). Use the same division for any total: presses divided by seconds gives your PPS.
What is the world record for the 50-second spacebar test?
There is no official, verified record for any spacebar test length, and numbers posted online are self-reported. The Top 500 leaderboard shows scores submitted by real players on this site, checked by automatic limits and moderators, but it is still a community ranking.
Is the 50-second spacebar counter the same as a spacebar clicker?
Yes. “Spacebar counter”, “spacebar clicker”, “space bar speed test” and “spacebar click test” all describe a tool that counts how many times you press the space bar in a set time. This page uses a 50 seconds timer.
Can you press the spacebar 500 times in 50 seconds?
500 presses in 50 seconds needs 10.0 presses per second for the whole test, because 500 divided by 50 is 10.0. That is a demanding steady pace; check the targets above and your own chart to see whether it is realistic for you.
