How to use the spacebar counter on mobile
- Pick a time (or type your own seconds) and tap the large pad. The first tap starts the clock and counts as press number one.
- Keep tapping the pad with one or two thumbs until the timer hits zero. Each touch is one press.
- Have a Bluetooth or USB keyboard connected? Press its Space key instead – physical key presses are counted exactly like on a computer.
- When time is up the result window opens and the pad locks until you press Restart. Turn on Do Not Disturb first so a notification cannot interrupt the run.
Spacebar tests by duration
Every test uses the same counter and the same scoring, so results are comparable across pages. The difference is how long you have to hold your pace. Open any page below for tips, score targets and an FAQ written for that duration.
Short tests: bursts and sprints
- 1-second spacebar counter – a pure burst
- 2-second spacebar counter – a repeatable mini-sprint
- 3-second spacebar counter – burst plus a first rhythm
- 5-second spacebar counter – a quick, fair benchmark
- 7-second spacebar counter – a sprint with room to settle
Standard tests: your everyday baseline
- 10-second spacebar counter – the standard spacebar speed test
- 12-second spacebar counter – a steady-pace check
- 15-second spacebar counter – where opening speed meets rhythm
- 20-second spacebar counter – comfort over a longer sprint
- 25-second spacebar counter – spotting the drop-off
Long tests: rhythm and endurance
- 30-second spacebar counter – the best test for consistency
- 50-second spacebar counter – a near-minute endurance run
- 1-minute spacebar counter – the full-minute challenge
- 2-minute spacebar counter – long-session stamina
- Spacebar counter without a timer – count at your own pace
Which spacebar test should I take?
Start with the 10-second test to find a baseline, then compare it with a 5-second and a 30-second run. If the 5-second pace is much higher than the 30-second pace, your burst is strong and your endurance is the thing to practise. If the numbers are close, your rhythm is already steady.
| Time | Presses at a comfortable pace | Presses at a fast pace |
|---|---|---|
| 1 seconds | 7 | 9 |
| 2 seconds | 14 | 18 |
| 3 seconds | 21 | 27 |
| 5 seconds | 35 | 45 |
| 7 seconds | 42 | 56 |
| 10 seconds | 60 | 80 |
| 12 seconds | 72 | 96 |
| 15 seconds | 90 | 120 |
| 20 seconds | 120 | 160 |
| 25 seconds | 138 | 175 |
| 30 seconds | 165 | 210 |
| 50 seconds | 275 | 350 |
| 1 minute | 330 | 420 |
| 2 minutes | 540 | 720 |
Targets are practice reference points based on the pace sets used on each duration page. Longer tests use lower paces because sustaining speed is harder.

Choose a spacebar test by goal
| Your goal | Best test | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Warm up before a game | 5-second counter | A short burst loosens the finger without tiring it. |
| A baseline you can compare | 10-second counter | The most common spacebar speed test length. |
| Check your keyboard or switches | Counter without a timer | Press steadily and watch for missed or doubled presses. |
| Settle a challenge with friends | 30-second counter | Long enough that luck evens out, short enough to repeat. |
| Test endurance and comfort | 1-minute counter | Shows how well you keep a pace. |
Spacebar speed test terms explained
PPS or KPS is presses (or keys) per second: your total divided by the test time. Consistency compares your fastest and slowest seconds, so a steady run scores higher. Custom time lets you set any test from 1 to 300 seconds, though only the standard times are ranked on the Top 500. Personal best is the highest total you have recorded on that test time on this device.
Spacebar test FAQ
What is the best spacebar test length?
Ten seconds is the most common because it is long enough to find a rhythm and short enough to repeat. Use 1 to 5 seconds for bursts and 30 seconds or more for consistency.
Are all the tests scored the same way?
Yes. Average presses per second is your total divided by the test time, and the chart shows presses in each second.
Can I compare a 10-second score with a 60-second score?
Compare presses per second, not totals. A 60-second run will always have a bigger total, but its average is usually lower than a short burst.
What is a spacebar speed test?
It counts how many times you press the space bar in a set time and reports presses per second. It is used to practise finger speed, warm up for games, check a keyboard and compete with friends.
Which spacebar test is hardest?
The longest ones, such as the 2-minute test, are hardest on stamina because your pace fades as your forearm tires. The shortest ones are hardest on reaction because everything depends on the first press.
